The Sundowners 4x4 Club meets the second Thursday of each month at the Oakwood Community Center, 3320 Laird Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI, at 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Ken Menck.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 Meeting
Ken Menck called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. There were 18 members present and 5 visitors.
OLD BUSINESS
We need to update our website with new pictures and the sponsors from the rodeo ASAP.
Please fill out your rig of the month form and either e-mail it with a picture of your rig to Chadoconnorc@wmol.com or get it to Marie.

NEW BUSINESS
If you are interested in joining Great Lakes 4WD Association, your membership is only $25.00 a year.
Sandy Flegel is running for the Treasurer position in Great Lakes 4WD Association and Wayne Rynbrand is running for the Public Relations position.
Please make sure that you read the property rules in the newsletter.
We were contacted by Big Brothers Big Sisters and asked if we wanted to do another fall run this year. We have declined but will do another run in the spring with the group.

TRAILMASTER REPORT
On August 16 th the club was invited to the Kalamazoo Speedway for a night of racing and members were able to drive their vehicles around the track. Adam was able to get our tickets for free and collected $470.00 from club members to donate to Race for Kids Sake. Everyone is looking forward to next year!
August 23 rd was our run with the Edison Neighborhood children and Ernie Spencer at the property. There were 25+ vehicles and over 70 people that attended. We had Sundowners members, Two Tracker members and some people that were at the rodeo came to help out.
UPCOMING EVENTS
October 2-5 – Canada Run
This will be a joint run with The Swamp Stompers and Marv says new trails will be traveled.
October 4 th & 5 th – Great Lakes 4WD
There is a clean up scheduled on the 4 th over by Novi and on October 5 th is the quarterly meeting.
October 10 th – 12 th – MW Holloweelin Weekend @ Marv & Sue Farley’s
TWH will be sponsoring this event at Marv & Sue’s house in West Branch, MI. There will be games for the kids, a spook walk for 2 different age groups and wheeling in the backyard. Price is $30.00 per adult, children 15 and under are free. Price includes breakfast and dinner on Saturday, porta-johns and course maintaining.
October 18 th – Fall Color Tour
Meet at Adam & Tina’s house at 11:00 am and bring a dish to pass, lawn chairs and your own beverages. We will run trails for 3-4 hours and then go back to Adam & Tina’s for a potluck and bonfire.
December 6 th – Toys for Tots
Marie has spoke with Kmart and we are all set for our annual Toys for Tots event. She has left messages at WRKR to see if they still want to help us out now that Jay Deacon is gone.
January 10 th 2009 – Christmas Party
The annual Christmas party will be at American Campground again next year. This is a catered event. More information to follow.
Spring 2009 – Camping Weekend
We are planning on going to Hell, MI for a nice camping weekend. There will be horseback riding, canoeing, chuck wagon dinner on a buffalo ranch and relaxation. More information to follow.
Memorial Day 2009 – UP Run
This run is being planned for Memorial Day weekend by Mike Doxey and Ken Menck. Primitive camping will be available at Mike Doxey’s cabin and it’s about a two hour drive from the bridge. More information to follow.
TURKEY AWARD
The turkey award has been accepted by Marie Dunning for leaving her vehicle in neutral and having it drive away the night we were at the speedway. Adam’s dad ran after it and stopped it for her.

PROPERTY
Please find the following rules for the property.
1. The gate at the new driveway has been repaired and a combination lock has been installed. If you have been in the club for over two years, you will have a sticker on your newsletter with the combination number on it. You are responsible for locking the gate up after you enter the property.
2. Please be very nice to the neighbors and check your tires for mud when you leave.
3. Please call and let them know that you plan on wheeling and when. Leaving a message is fine.
4. You must wheel at the property in pairs and you must be with a member that has been in the club for over two years.
5. No visitors are allowed to drive at the property. They may ride in your vehicle only.
6. Marie has spoke with Wayne about going out to the property during hunting season and it’s not an issue. He only has one person that hunts out there. Make sure you call ahead.
